The Power of Human Creativity in an AI World

For anyone who’s not been living under a rock lately it’s become obvious that AI is now firmly everywhere, even if organisations are still largely working out how to fully engage their people on how to use it effectively.

Even in the meetings and events world, it’s clear that AI is already booming. 50% of meetings and events planners already embrace the use of AI throughout the meetings journey, and a whopping 34% will now openly admit to using AI to generate the creative concepts that have long been at the cornerstone of the value an event agency brings to the table (AMEX Global Meetings and Events Forecast 2026). 40% also use AI to power their event apps today.

AI doesn’t capture the human essence audiences are craving

Audiences and businesses are craving purposeful human interaction more than ever. Meaningful connections, and engaging face-to-face experiences are ever-more important in the screen-dominated world that we now live in, and one third of meeting professionals say that ‘improving the attendee experience with more memorable events’ is their top priority for the year. AI absolutely mimics human thinking by learning from data, spotting patterns and making predictions using algorithms. Whilst this may make it perfect for repetitive work, such as post-event evaluation or optimising cost bases to support the current challenges many businesses are facing, we need to remember it doesn’t think for itself. It’s trained on huge data sets to come up with a ‘likely’ response, and that’s interesting in the context of creativity and designing unique and engaging concepts that drive meaningful, human, connection, isn’t it?

The essence of human creativity

Have you ever listened to music or looked at artwork created by AI? There’s no denying that it looks and sounds interesting but it’s somehow still very clear that it’s been created by AI. And don’t even get me started on THAT mildly disturbing AI episode of Friends... This gap is the essence of the human experiences and subtleties in creativity that AI simply cannot replicate. Given that our human experiences are built up into an ‘Individual Mind’ that creates our own unique personality and perspective through biological, cognitive, behavioural, and humanistic lenses, and enhanced by our conscious and unconscious experiences throughout our lives, it’s hard to imagine how AI will replicate this nuance well in any near-future scenario.

So what does this mean for event agencies today?

Many forward-thinkers on AI echo the same message loud and clear - in the age of AI, competitive advantage will come from being able to continue to develop and harness skills like imagination, empathy, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. Given that these are all skills which event agencies like ours have been employing and honing for decades, it’s no wonder optimism on the outlook for the meetings and events sector is at an all-time high - with 85% of meeting professionals being optimistic about the future in 2026.

Our Approach

That’s why we don’t use AI to design your unique creative concepts, or to power our bespoke event apps that are created and designed by us for your individual event and brand experiences. We think those still need the personal touch. But, if AI is on your organisation’s lips like everyone else’s, we can help you to deliver powerful in-person experiences through tailored event programmes to discover, embed, and roll out AI capabilities within your organisations. Get in touch with us here to book a call to discuss what you want to achieve with your people.
